Curriculum Vitae

 

Marco de Santi started at the age of ten years old his guitar studies with the teacher Fausto Bettelli; he completed his studies and his professional formation with the mafous maestro Angelo Gilardino accomplishing his diploma at Conservatorio "Pollini" di Padova with the best grade and the honour mention. Marco de Santi achieved the first prize in four national competitions and he resulted the absolute winner of the "Premio di studio Mario CastelnuovoTedesco" destinated to the best Italian Guitar students; Marco de Santi was graduated at the International Competition of Musical Interpretation in Genève and he first prize at the International Competition Andrés Segovia in Palma de Mallorca.
Marco de Santi developed a very intense career; he has performed in the most concert halls all around Europe (Piccola Scala in Milan, Teatro Regio in Turin, Settimane Musicali of Stresa, Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Wigmore Hall and Saint John Smith Square in London, Radio France in Paris, Musicology Institut in Barcelona, Die Alte Opera in Frankfurt, Munchen, Berlin and Kohln, Salzburg Festival, Modern Arts Museum in Stockholm, Prague, Athens, Istanbul and Ankara, Zagreb Sarajevo and Beograd, Genève, Bruxelles....) in the United States (Carnegie Hall in New York, Chicago University), Puerto Rico and Mexico. Marco de Santi played many chamber concerts with soloists of the Berliner Philharmoniker Orchestra, the soprano Cecilia Gasdia, the flautists Philippe Bernold and Davide Formisano (first flute in the Scala Orchestra) the saxophone player Mario Marzi and the accordeon player Simone Zanchini (musicians of the Scala Philharmonic Orchestra). Recently he performed concerts with the guitarist Alberto Mesirca playing a repertoire for two guitars. Marco de Santi played many concerts with the great maestro Astor Piazzolla, performing the Double Concierto for bandoneon guitar and string orchestra. He also performed with the Mantua Chamber Orchestra (conducted by Leo Brouwer), the Carme Ensemble and the Pedrollo Orchestra of Vicenza.
To the friend Astor Piazzolla Marco de Santi dedicated many CD; a monographic work in duo whit Mario Marzi and a recital one, edited by EMI that achieved the prize as the "Best Year Guitar CD " in the International Contest in Alessandria.
Marco de Santi was also intensively occupied in the cultural organization world; for more than ten years he was the artistic director of the Società dei Concerti in Brescia, one of the three more ancient Italian societies. He also was the promoter of many importants events: Tokio quartet, Jordi Savall, l’Arpeggiata, Leonidas Kavakos, Schlomo Mintz, Pat Metheny, Noa, Gary Burton, Chick Corea.... Marco de Santi teached at Liceo Musical Viotti in Vercelli, in the Civica Scuola in Torino and in the Accademia Internazionale Paolo Chimeri, and he teached many master classes in Europa, Croazia, Puerto Rico, South Korea, New York... 

During the summer 2012 he performed some concerts with the german cellist Frieder Berthold and with the Chamber Orchestra Sphor Simphonietta, in Italy and in Austria. Recently Marco de Santi played concerts in Mexico, invited from some Guitar International Festivals in Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Colima and Guadalajara. Next summer he will play with the cellist Frieder Berthold and in winter he will be back to Mexico for teaching several master classes and playing recitals.
